Literature Ministry and Church planting

It All Starts with God

For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible,. . . everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. Colossians 1:16 (Msg) Unless you assume a God, the question of life's purpose is meaningless. Bertrand Russell, atheist

LISAC is headquartered in the North West Province-Bamenda, Cameroon Africa where David and the other team members live.  Bamenda is approximately 75 miles from the Nigerian border.

In the past 5 years since obtaining our Certificate of Registration, the LISAC team has helped plant nineteen churches in Nigeria and sixteen churches in Cameroon.  They return each year to the churches in both Nigeria and Cameroon to train the leaders and provide them with additional literature.

The team has trained over 1000 counselors as leaders in the newly planted churches.  And the greatest news of all is: that over 3800 “lost” people have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Many of the converts were Muslims.  All praise, honor, and glory be to the Lord!

In addition, the LISAC team has distributed over 25,000 pieces of Christian literature (primarily from Manna Publications and Quail books) in Nigeria and Cameroon.  They have also traveled to Chad and Togo, Gabon in central Africa to help other ministries start literature distribution programs.

Excerpt from field reports

  • Walking through the pathway of a narrow village community in Saduuna we see aches of death and the smell of burnt houses and the sound of abandoned babies left as orphans with nothing as food. Miseries could be seen everywhere churches were destroyed, homeless ones living under trees and expecting to move at any given moment for safety or get home whenever the Lord wills. Hope to them is eternity and not the plans of tomorrow and this is where life was brought to these beloved brethren in the Mambilla plateau.
  • Bro. Larry. Thank you for your prayers during the time I was in Douala training pastors.  Our time with the pastors was great and I will be sending you a detailed report soon.  Unfortunately on the trip, our car ran into a serious accident killing two and leaving me with my left arm fractured and many other injuries.  I hope that in two weeks I will be able to go with two other pastors to Mbaw to train pastors on leadership since you will not be there as planned.
  • Labor village is Muslim dominant in the population who are not giving the Christians any breathing space to freely worship as needed. One of the newly baptized Christians had this to say to the team: I don’t know the where of my husband for the past two months. Since the family was converted from Islam into Christianity a year ago, my husband has never been at rest with this so call Malem Osman. He will release his herd to eat up our products on the farm. He will tip the police officers to lock up my husband in the cell without any tangible reason. Once he said to me that the only way to get out of this trouble is to come back into the Muslim faith but I told him; “we have made our decision for Christ and that is final
  • Because of the high amount of rainfall, the team couldn’t use the ministry truck to Mararaba-Tep as the roads are very slippery, and narrow, and the loose ground can’t withstand the 4WDministry vehicle weight. This could easily cut off and take vehicles down the cliffs, team now decided to take another challenge of trekking for 3hrs from Bamnga to Mararaba-Tep village.
  • The journey started from Mbamnga at 5:00 am trekking through the same Muslim area where the team was attacked last year during Church planting. Team members were afraid but had no choice but to get going and pray to the almighty God for grace and safety, as that was the only road to Mararaba- Tep. When reaching the spot where the team was attacked last year, I sensed the team was deadly silent for fear the Fulani could jump on us from the tick bushes again; thank God nothing happen.
  • We were confronted by a gang of Imams mobilized by the Imam of Bangoba to harm us if we resisted the attempt them scattering the newly established church.  They only want Islam in their land. As David Mifang quoted a bible verse for a study that evening, the Imam jumped into the road with a whip in his hand and whipped three of the village children who had joined the church.  As they ran away they had their heads covered tightly with clothes for fear of being identified by those Imams.  Our team moved away in dead silence till they reached where the car picked up us for their base.  The Imams warned the team seriously never to come back to his land again.
  • A journey that was expected to take one day took us this time two days with real difficulties resulting from the heavy downpour of rain this year. All the roads from Bamenda to the border area are completely bad and break down the body so much.  Reaching the river donga banks, the team could not cross as the river passage was completely over flooded with water and mud forcing the team to spend one night outside under serious rain blowing in wind form; indeed the stormy night. The team had to push and dig on several occasions in order to get through with the ministry vehicle through a 4WD truck.
